The Halberg Challenge – an indoor sports race for charity - is back for 2018 and is taking place on Tuesday 15 May at Spark Arena, Auckland!


2018 Halberg Challenge – a sports race to raise funds for disabled Kiwi kids to experience the magic of sport!


  1. Get your team of three together to run, row and cycle on machines for 20 minutes in an indoor race.
  2. Register for the event by clicking on the "Start Fundraising" button above.
  3. Invite your friends, families and colleagues to sponsor your Halberg Challenge efforts and raise funds for the Halberg Disability Sport Foundation.

Raise funds for the Halberg Foundation – the charity that helps physically disabled Kiwis experience the magic of sport and recreation.  Funds raised at the Halberg Challenge will support the Halberg Advisers who connect with young people and their families to connect them to sport and recreation opportunities in local sports clubs and schools, as well as hosting the Halberg Junior Disability Games  - a national sports competition for physically disabled Kiwis aged 8-21 years.

Halberg Disability Sport Foundation

The Halberg Disability Sport Foundation is a charitable organisation set up by Olympian Sir Murray Halberg (ONZ) in 1963 which aims to enhance the lives of physically disabled New Zealanders by enabling them to participate in sport and recreation.

The core work of the Foundation is a team of Advisers based around the country who connect physically disabled young people to sport and recreation opportunities. They also deliver training on adapting sports and work with clubs, schools and organisations to provide inclusive events, coaching and programmes.

The Foundation also hosts the Halberg Junior Disability Games - a national three day sports competition for physically disabled young people.

Halberg Disability Sport Foundation is a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005, registration number CC35558.
